Water Heater and Blessings

Sunday, June 15, I woke to take a bath only to find we were without hot water. Will's sisters' family was coming to visit on Tuesday. Ian said he had worked on several water heaters and said he may be able to help us once he got here so we thought we would wait a few more days to call the plumber.

The waterheater is in the attic. Will and I had actually never been up there. We went in the opening on the side of the house where the central heat and air is only to find there was no way to get to the waterheater from there. So we went through the attic stairs in the garage. And found the water heater about 15-20 feet back, looking like the house had been built around it. Not only could we see a way to get the old one out. We could not see a way to get the new one in. The overflow pan was also very full. So we were thankful this did not happen two weeks later when we were gone for a month. Ian suggested we have them just put the new one in the garage. We believe this was probablyan original from the house and it just had way outlived its lifetime. So Wed. morning I called several plumbers only to find it was a very busy plumbing week, but did manage to find on that could come over.

He was a very big guy and went in the attic and looked and said there was no way that would come out in one piece. He did not seem thrilled about working on it. I mentioned to him about rerouting to the garage. He seemed to think that was smart also and said there were several things we would have to do: get an inspector, electrician, etc. This whole time I was just avoiding how much this would cost, it could not be avoided, boiling water for baths and dishes got old quick, but we sure used less dishes. So he came back later with his helper who he sent in to drain the pan and reroute the pipes, he just shouted suggestions from the ladder ha. They got the new one installed and almost ready that night. But we still needed an electrician. The electrician finally called and said he was pretty booked and in Little Rock, thurs. and Friday and asked if we minded him coming on Saturday. So he came Saturday and after a week we finally had hot water.

Now for payment. The plumber ill came to $454.80 and the electrician $125.67 = $580.47. That week my long awaited stimulus check came which left us with $19.53 to spare. Although we were thrilled about putting all that money in savings. We praise God for His timing. And finally after some extra paperwork, we should be getting Will's tax refund and stimulus this week or next and it looks like it will be more than we had thought originally.
