We got into New Orleans about 3:30 or 4 pm on Tues. I could not believe the rubbage and rebuilding that was still on the outskirts of town. It is so amazing to me that this town is still facing so many after effects from Katrina. I cannot imagine what it looked like right after the hurricanes hit. We had a nice evening checking into our beautiful room. with down comforters and fluffy pillows. Made me just want to jump up and down on the bed. We took a walk on the riverwalk which had neat little shops and eateries. And the most exciting thing since sliced bread-Gelato. I hope to get a few times before we leave. We split a meal at Gordon Biersch and plan to split the rest of the trip. Eating out just gives you too much food and we both miss the home cooking, since we rarely eat out anymore. Coming into town we went across this very long and scary bridge on highway 10. it was very low to the water. I didn't get the camera out in time to get some good views of it.
