The next firehouse dog.

Will and I went camping this weekend. We were supposed to meet some friends in Northwest AR. On the way there Jasper was having fun sticking his head out the window and trying to bite the air. At one point he jumped out. We stopped right away it was a double highway. The car behind us also stopped right away and was trying to motion for people to slow down. Jasper was sitting in front of their vehicle but was starting to get up and go toward the other lane. He still had the leash attached to him so it was a miracle he did not hang himself. Will ran out and got him and we drove to a nearby parking lot to get off the road. We are not sure what made him jump out. He had gone to the bathroom on himself and we tried to get him cleaned up some. I checked around and he didn't seem to be hurt. He was walking and was not bothered by me poking him different places.

We got back in the car and kept driving. We did not make it to the campground until after nine. It was full we checked one other place and it was full also. We decided to start heading back and either stop at a place closer to home or get a motel. The places we had checked were down steep gravel roads and took a lot of time to check. By this time it was 11pm.

We made it to Tyler Bend, also on the Buffalo River. This was a paved road and the sites were visibly numbered. We found one and pitched the tent and went to bed. This was about 2am. The next morning we made some breakfast and decided to get some inner tubes and float on the river. Jasper took to the water like a fish and had a blast splashing and trying to catch the water.

We had a great time despite the late night and other set backs. Jasper loves camping because we are constantly outside with him and can't go in the house or work. We want to try to take him canoeing in June.
